Our Story Hi, I am Dan Ratner, Co-Founder of Cell-nique.This is my story of persistence, hard work, burn-out, and finding my own answers through conscious choices on the road to living a meaningful balanced life.
My wife Donna and I have been committed to creating an organic and holistic home since 1987. She has nurtured and cared for our family of five with homemade meals, alternative medicine and self awareness. Although this is what I woke up to every morning and came home to late at night…by day I was living the life of a stressed-out healthcare banker striving for a better life. By the end of the 1990’s, I ran into middle-age head on. I took pride in my ability to juggle and get things done no matter how tired, jet lagged or stressed out I may have been from the demands and pressures of my job and family. By the time I reached my late thirties, I was physically and mentally exhausted.
It was like hitting a brick wall. I was doing way too many things at once: drinking a lot of coffee, working 12 hour days, and traveling the majority of the month.
One day I was about to make a presentation to an executive committee at GE Capital, which I had done many times before. As I got up to speak, I lost my words; the facts and figures that had been so clear to me just hours before were gone! At that moment, I realized I needed help. My physical health was suffering as well. I was starting to gain weight for the first time in my life, I was constipated and very tired. I could not seem to get caught up or rebalanced. That was the day I made the promise to myself to improve my diet and rebalance my life.
I began mixing and drinking green powders on a daily basis even though they tasted nasty. Being determined to see if they would work, I continued to be committed to them. By the third day I started to feel something working. My mind was feeling clearer and my body more energized than I had felt in years. Had my cells been starving, causing my mind and body to shut down? The answer was becoming more obvious.
I used to think eating a salad for lunch was keeping up with my healthy lifestyle at home. Unfortunately, I was in denial about all the acid-forming commercial animal protein and processed food I was also consuming during the day. After feeding my body and mind with these greens for only 3 days, I knew that every cell within me started to absorb the nutrients they had been craving for years. These green drinks were cleaning out the toxins which were draining me on every level.
I became very passionate about super greens and I tried every different kind of green powder I could find. I researched all the ingredients to understand why they worked. Unfortunately, the one problem I had with the green powders was the bad taste and chalky consistency. It made it difficult to stick with a routine, but I persevered, knowing how good they were making me feel. My family encouraged me to come up with a drink that tasted good and was easy and convenient – for everyone from ages 2 to 102. It took me a month, working with a team of physicians and nutritionists, to come up with the basic formula for Cell-nique. It took me over a year and 3 different formulas to make it taste good while still keeping it organic and 100% natural. Donna would always say “when our children are drinking it every day, then you’ll know you have a winner.” Our teen-age children are drinking Cell-nique each and every morning and their friends like it too!
So I hope you come to love and appreciate Cell-nique as much as we do. I personally supervise the purchase of every ingredient to ensure it is the highest quality and consistency. I supervise the mixing and bottling process. We also send each batch to a USDA certified lab to ensure that we have bottled a safe product. Thank you again for having tried Cell-nique.
